Celebrating the Community

Elizabeth Chappell

Director, Program Planning & Assessment

On Saturday, July 23, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Yellowstone County hosted our inaugural Community Block Party at our Bair Family Clubhouse. This event was created from an idea to connect with our neighbors and foster a sense of community and belonging between our Club families and the Billings community.

We were grateful to host the Tastes So Good food truck, which is owned and operated by Club Alumni, as well as Alfon’s Flaming Grill and Wagon Wheel Kettle Corn. Multiple agencies from across Billings, including Billings Public Library, HRDC District 7, Billings Urban Indian Health & Wellness Clinic, and Girls Scouts of Montana and Wyoming joined us for the event to spread awareness of their resources and services. We were joined by local artists who were able to spread their love of arts and crafts with the community.

“We are thrilled to be a neighborhood partner and valued resource to so many in our community. The Community Block Party created an opportunity for the Boys & Girls Club to promote and strengthen our relationships and we are truly grateful to work alongside our neighbors for the betterment of our community and our Club members” says Elizabeth Chappell.

A big thank you to all Club staff that volunteered and helped make the day extra special! Thank you to all food trucks, organizations and artists who joined us in bringing unification to the community. We look forward to hosting our second annual Community Block Party next year with live music, art vendors and fun for the entire family!
