2023 YELLOWSTONE COUNTY
JUNIOR YOUTH OF THE YEAR
Lacey & Emily
Junior Youth of the Year seeks to develop junior leaders ages 10 to 13 within the Club environment. This high recognition spotlights our growing talent and leadership achievements of current Club youth who have excelled at academic excellence, leadership potential and Club participation. Each year, this competition gets tougher and tougher as candidates continue to prove their acts as a change agent and emerging leaders. This year was no different as we awarded two amazing young women with the title as 2024 Yellowstone County Junior Youth of the Year.
Lacey has been a Club member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Yellowstone County for nearly 6 years, starting in the fall of 2018. She values spending time with friends, family and her cat, Milo. She is not afraid to encourage others to put forth their best effort, and maintains that being an active member in Torch Club has taught her to be a good leader with great positive energy. Torch Club is a “club within the Club” helping members ages 11 to 13 build character and leadership skills at a critical stage in their life.
At Club, Lacey has learned about the many challenges facing the community and has begun to follow the examples set by leaders within her Clubhouse, like Bayleigh, who inspires her to be kind, respectful and determined.
Emily has been a member of the Club for many years! This June will mark 5 years and she has learned so much!
Emily has big emotions and she credits the Club and amazing staff for helping her learn coping strategies that have helped her manage her feelings and reactions. She is now able to better identify and communicate the difficult and overwhelming feelings she experiences and has been a role model to others experience similar issues.
As Treasurer of Torch Club and an employee of the Teen Bean, Emily has gained a lot of business experience. She confidently manages the finances and keeps track of profits and expenses for the teen-ran coffee shop. Emily is a natural in sales and has excelled and grown her skills in this position.
We are pleased to support Lacey and Emily as the 2024 Yellowstone County Junior Youth of the Year, they are both great leaders within their circles and have earned this distinguished title.
